Yin and Yang printed painting ///: By John Cooper
This image showcases the battle of the Yin & Yang of Jiu-Jitsu in which opposite forces compliment and display the need for one another.
This was the very first painting I ever attempted and it is based off of an original photograph I took during the much anticipated match between Braulio Estima and Rodolfo Vieira. While I was reviewing the photos after the match this one stuck out to me as I immediately noticed the Yin & Yang imagery and it struck me as the perfect description of Jiu-Jitsu “battle”.
Originally it was just going to be a photograph but I started wondering what it would look like as a larger painting. After too much procrastination I decided I would give painting a shot and what you see here is the end result.
I had several requests to make additional copies (paintings) but that would have required a considerable amount of time and there would be no guarantee they would be as good as the original (maybe better, but not the same). So, the next best option would be to provide prints of the actual painting. Weird right? Taking a photograph, turning it in to a painting, then turning it back in to a “photograph”.
With all that said, I am happy to release a limited number of prints. The total print run will be 50 and each one will be signed & numbered based on the time of order.
